Add David Letterman to the list of Taylor Swift–Travis Kelce fans.
The former talk show host took to his Instagram on Sunday to share his thoughts on the singer-songwriter and her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
“Taylor Swift, I don’t think in the history of showbusiness, in the history of popular culture, we’ve ever witnessed anything like this,” he began his minute-long video. “We live in a world now where all we hear is nonsense and ugliness, and the nonsense can’t be more nonsensical and the ugliness… God hopes it can’t get any uglier, but that’s all we hear. That’s all we hear. So now, here’s Taylor Swift, who is a glowing bright light of goodness in the world.”
Letterman went on to say that when she began dating Kelce (though he repeatedly called him Kelsey Grammer), people went crazy. He noted the singer’s fans didn’t want her to date a football player, while football fans were saying they didn’t want Swift near the sport.
“I say to both camps, ‘This is such a lovely thing. Shut up! It’s good for the footballers. It’s good for Taylor Swift, and it’s something positive and happy for the world,’” he shared, before adding, “Also, politically, Taylor Swift is a huge force, and I think just wants to see people do the right thing. So God bless Taylor Swift and [Travis Kelce].”
Swift and Kelce made their relationship public in September when the Grammy-winning artist attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game. Since then, she has regularly supported him at his football games, and he saw one of her Eras Tour shows in Argentina in the fall.
The pair have been photographed by paparazzi but have yet to make an official appearance on a red carpet. However, when the Chiefs won the AFC Championship game, which meant they were going to the Super Bowl, Swift made her way to the field and celebrated with Kelce in the most public display of their relationship.
