FIVE YEARS AFTER SUCCESSFULLY joining forces in the world’s number one trans-Pacific joint venture, Delta and Korean Air are lauding their partnership with global celebrations, and have hosted a few joint customer events in Korea and the U.S., as a reminder that they remain the best team to fly you between Asia and the America.

Over the last half-decade, the two formidable airlines have earned increased trust from customers in both Asia and the Americas through improved customer service, reduced connection times, consistent in-flight experiences, interchangeable miles and a more powerful combined network that has thoughtfully served over seven million customers since its first joint flight in May 2018.

Today, the partnership between Delta and Korean Air helps them to connect 290 destinations in the Americas and 80 destinations in Asia on 18 peak day flights between Incheon and the U.S.

Delta Goes Global

The partnership has served Delta, one of the largest airlines in the U.S. and now the largest U.S. airline serving Korea, helping to evolve the once-North American-focused airline into a globally recognised carrier earning consistently high ratings from experience-seeking passengers worldwide.

According to executives at Delta, the airline sought out Korean Air as their partner after recognising a similar brand DNA built around caring for customers and employees at every touchpoint through unique and thoughtful experiences, products and human connections.

As two airlines dedicated to customer satisfaction, it’s no surprise that they have consistently developed and released products and services that keep them ahead of the curve.

Amongst their best initiatives are an increased JV network, integrated SkyTeam-powered check-in allowing customers to digitally check in using Delta or Korean Air’s platforms, introduced reciprocal benefits for Delta SkyMiles and Korean Air SKYPASS, reduced connection times and aligned baggage allowances and priority boarding for corporate customers.

The partnership’s joint service desk at Incheon has also earned rave reviews from flyers, allowing customers holding Delta tickets to receive help from Korean Air staff and vice versa. This service has been especially helpful during flight delays, cancellations, and weather events that cause scheduling irregularities.

Incheon as International Hub

Incheon International Airport

Using Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2 as its hub has been a boon for the partnership. With its stellar reputation, modern amenities and layovers as short as 45 minutes, Incheon provides the perfect home for the joint venture and offers ideal connectivity between the popular tropical destinations of Southeast Asia and the U.S. — as well as the ever-increasing popularity of South Korea as a North American vacation destination due to its global cultural influence in areas of interest from music to beauty.

To make Incheon even more attractive as a hub for Delta and Korean Air, the airport offers 15 types of free tours for transit passengers, catering to a range of schedules and interests.
