The Madison County Sheriff has issued a travel advisory for Madison County, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, January 28 until midnight.

This is due to the winter weather the county is currently experiencing. The rapid change from rain to snow has caused the roads to become very slippery and slushy.

Road crews are out, however, there have been several accidents across the County already.

“We want to remind people to be cautious,” said Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood. “If you do not have to go anywhere then please avoid any unnecessary travel. If you do go out on the roads make sure you give yourself plenty of time and give the plow trucks plenty of space. We want everyone to get to their destinations safely and that includes you, our plow truck drivers, and our first responders.”

This travel advisory does not restrict travel but urges motorists to limit driving due to hazardous conditions.

If you are on the roads please take extreme caution, give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination, and plenty of room to stop when approaching intersections and other vehicles. This advisory will be updated if needed.
